Please view the video from a graphic novel about the Pacific Conflict, and think about answers to the following questions:
What did you notice about the video?
What are you impressions?
Did you recognize any of the images?
Historical Tool:
We will be using a historical tool known as SCIM-C. This SCIM-C link will serve you well as you work with SCIM-C during this lesson.
In your groups, you will be given a set of documents to work on. You should complete the SCI portion of SCIM-C, and then utilize the whole classes' effort to complete the final C of Corroboration.
In your groups, engage the documents together, focusing on Summarizing, Contextualizing and making Inferences about each document individually. Please refrain from asking one person to do each task. Using SCIM-C with historical documents and artifacts lends itself well to establishing a flow of thought. Once you have created a Summary and Context, the Inferences will flow naturally.
Technological Tool:
We will be using Google Draw to complete this activity. You will had editing privileges on your documents, and will be given viewing privileges when the time is appropriate.
Google Draw allows you to easily complete SCIM-C, creating a permanent record of your thoughts and ideas that you can reference later, or share as you like.
Sources: Using these Documents , answer the question, "What evidence can you find, and what were some of the the social and economic changes that took place during and after World War II, as demonstrated via SCIM-C in the supplied documents?"
Final Steps:
When you have finished working on the documents for your group, please begin corroborating your ideas with documents from other groups. Corroboration, remember, can either validate, or invalidate your ideas. Be open to either possibility; this is the mark of a good historian.
Your final activity will be to create a Museum Box. You can go to the Instructions page for a tutorial and video on how to build your museum box. This web application is designed to encourage and allow for collaboration.
Please link to your video on Final Museum Box page; put it on your group page so your peers can leave comments.
Closure:
Share your findings with the rest of the class.
